Inaugural speech of VU-Professor Sharda Nandram on the 21st of November 2019 at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

We are facing certain challenges in society today which scholars have been articulating as outcome of Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity (VUCA) or emerging Fourth Industrial Revolution….

I believe we need scholars, thinkers, entrepreneurs, inventors, and practitioners with a holistic and integrative mindset. With a hyper-specialized or single-discipline mindset, we may not get integrative solutions. Along with the revolution in technology, we need to undergo a revolution in order to nurture our ability to connect to the existence beyond the existence that we perceive. I believe that this will unlock our full potential to understand who we really are and why we exist.
